BROADBAND “EUDUNDA”

Without a doubt, the district needs Broadband to benefit both Business and residents now and in the future.
Introductory letter:

10/10/2005
For Your Interest:

Broadband Aggregation for the Central Region. I have included the form for people in your community to inform them, and register their interest in broadband.
If you could help distribute this to as many people as possible, we will have an ever increasing chance of getting broadband for your area.

The aim of the project is to get as many people as possible to register their interest in broadband, which will then be mapped as a points marked as either a business or residential (or both) interest. Once we have mapped all registrations, we will take this map to internet service providers, and show them that there IS demand for broadband in your area, and ask them to find a suitable solution.

Just to let you know, there may be some confusion about whether this form is applicable, as previous forms may have been distributed by other groups – such as Telstra or other ISP’s (Internet Service Providers). ISP forms are NOT related to this project, as we are trying to find a solution for the whole community (not just the town / high population areas).

You may be aware of the HiBIS program also – the government subsidised “Higher Incentive Bandwidth Scheme”. Anyone that has registered their interest in the HiBIS program has had their registration copied to the Broadband Aggregation database. This excludes anyone that has received a HiBIS subsidy to connect a higher bandwidth (faster internet) solution, for example ISDN or satellite.

Please distribute the forms attached to everyone you can – both electronically, and physically (printed forms).
If you have any questions, please give me a call – 88 922 550, or 0407 922 513.

Thank you for your assistance with this community project,
Sincerely,
David.

Refer to Regional Council web site about Broadband
This has been recognized some time ago by the region and the local Regional Council of Goyder has been campaigning since then.
The number of requests has grown significantly, with the district achieving 250+ registrations, but we need many more to meet targets needed.

The district has been needing good broadband supplies for a long time,
See article in June 2003 where Telstra showed us some alternatives
http://www.eudunda.net/ecbat/News/archives/2003/telstra/telstra_talk_broadband.htm
Some businesses have taken up using ISDN as a result of that night (and since then).

Some people who are out if reach from ISDN have gone to Satellite as a Broadband alternative.
In the mean time many towns and cities are enjoying ADSL, a high speed and economic alternative in comparison to the previous two mentioned.

Some of the reasons towns/districts have achieved broadband in their area has been firstly, the recognition that they need it, secondly that they have banded together and highlighted their problem, and campaigned to get the services.
